Our Story

Bountiful Farms a family owned and operated nursery located in the Willamette Valley in Woodburn, Oregon. The farm was started over 30 years ago by family patriarch, Jay Nelson and his wife Julia Nelson.

Jay came from a family of farmers, getting his start in Utah as a farmer with his father Jay C. Nelson. He later went on to study at Utah State University in the School of Agricultrue and then at the University of Oregon Dental School, now part of the Oregon Health Sciences University, where he earned his degree in dentistry and later completed the orthodontics program. Jay ran a successful orthondontics practice in Salem, Oregon, but the love of farming never left him. He and Julia purchased the land for Bountiful Farms in Woodburn in 1971. Together they planted the original crop which was hazel nuts and and they soon had a beautiful orchard in place. Jay and his son Brent worked closely together in the early years running the farm and they were later joined by Todd. After many years of successfuly harvesting hazel nuts they decided to make a move to nursery stock. The hazel nut trees were removed and the farm converted to a successful nursery.

The farm has now grown to over 500 acres of nursery stock and the third generation of family has begun working in the management and operation of Bountiful Farms.
